    GAMeC – Galleria d’Arte Moderna e Contemporanea di Bergamo, was founded in 1991. The building it is housed in was formerly a convent built in the fifteenth century that has been completely renovated by Studio Gregotti with financial support from the Municipality of Bergamo and the bank Credito Bergamasco. The cultural policy proposed by the museum is diversified across its more than 1500 square metres of display area: temporary solo and joint exhibitions by international artists, unseen projects by upand- coming artists, historically and artistically wide-ranging exhibitions, and projects for artists tied to the local area all provide opportunities for enjoyment to those interested in contemporary art and creativity. The purpose underlying the creation of GAMeC, which is partnered by Accademia Carrara and Accademia di belle arti G. Carrara, was to form a pole dedicated to art in the city. Since 2000 GAMeC has been managed by “Associazione per la GAMeC – onlus”, whose founding members are the Municipality of Bergamo and TenarisDalmine, with Emeritus members UBI- Banca Popolare di Bergamo and Bonaldi Motori GAMeC is moreover promoter and founder of AMACI.

    FOUNDED IN 2009
    DIRECTED BY Paola Silvia Ubiali

        [== LINK ==]

    The gallery comes from a project by Silvia Paola Ubiali who, after graduating in Modern Literature with art specialization at the University of Milan, different marketing and foreign trade business experiences, and later as a collaborator in an important gallery of ancient and modern art, spontaneously orients her interests to the contemporary, particularly to the period that goes from the ’60s until today at international level, ranging from classical aesthetics to experimentation. The gallery opens in March 2009 with an exhibition dedicated to International Madi Movement of which Marelia Gallery is now the contact point for Italy. From historical artists with already consolidated experiences to the work of young artists bringing new languages, the aim of the gallery is to raise awareness of the many forms of artistic expression to the widest possible audience to witness an art that evolves over time, but always remains the ultimate expression of the human being. A strong orientation towards the territory characterize the work of the gallery, materialized in collaboration with local institutions (including Fondazione Creberg, Museo Diocesano Adriano Bernareggi, Accademia Tadini in Lovere, Accademia di Belle Arti G. Carrara and the botanical garden Lorenzo Rota) and private partners (Spazio Arte Hangar Audi and the hotel chain Accorhotels).

    Saturday March 9, 3.30PM | Cinema San Marco – Piazzale della Repubblica, 2

        [== LINK ==]

    The section of BFM37 dedicated to the contaminations between cinema and contemporary art will offer a close-up look on the work of Nathalie Djurberg and Hans Berg, a Swedish duo awarded with the Leone d’Argento at Venice Biennale in 2009, for the first time in Bergamo.

    The exhibition, curated by Stefano Raimondi and Claudia Santeroni, will bring the artists’ fantastic worlds in the Sixteenth-century spaces of Porta Sant’Agostino.

    The partnership between Nathalie Djurberg and Hans Berg began in 2004; their work is presented in large immersive installations, bizarre landscapes populated by people, animals and plants portraying the impulses and contradictions of the human soul.
    Playing with the historical meaning of Porta Sant’Agostino as a transit point, the exhibition develops around a large projection and, at the same time, shows the sculptural research carried out by the artists.

    Nathalie Djurberg and Hans Berg will meet the festival audience on Saturday March 9, 3:30PM at Cinema San Marco. During the event, a selection of video works will be available, allowing visitors to learn, through the words of the protagonists, the main implications related to their work.

    The exhibition is promoted by the City of Bergamo and is organized by Associazione The Blank, Bergamo Film Meeting and Lab 80 film.
    In collaboration with Giò Marconi (Milan) and with technical contribution of Dielle Ceramiche and the partnership with La Torre tappeti.

    Nathalie Djurberg (Lysekil, Sweden – 1978) and Hans Berg (Rättvik, Sweden – 1978) live and work in Berlin. In 2009, they participated in the 53rd Venice Biennale “Fare Mondi”, winning the Silver Lion. Their works were at the centre of solo exhibitions in the most important artistic institutions, including the Moderna Museet in Stockholm, the Kunsthalle in Frankfurt, the MART in Trento and Rovereto, the Tate Britain in London, the PICA in Perth, the Moscow Garage and the Walker Art Center of Minneapolis. Their works can also be found in public collections such as: Hammer Museum, Los Angeles; Kunsthaus Zuerich, Zurich; Malmö Konstmuseum, Malmö; Moderna Museet, Stockholm; MoMA – Museum of Modern Art, New York; Gallery of Modern Art, Brisbane; Borås Konstmuseum, Borås; Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, New York.

    Quarenghicinquanta
    [= Quarenghicinquanta ===]

    Quarenghicinquanta is a space dedicated to photography and is a reference point for temporary exhibitions, events and meetings with authors and operators from the images’ world.
    An exhibition space wanted by Dario Guerini and Vincenzo Magni to propose authoritative Italian and international names of photography, but also a workshop where you can meet and compare experiences, will enhance young or unpublished authors, develop ideas and launch individual and collective projects with the intention of promoting a free, innovative, and not just historical photography. Quarenghicinquanta is also a mixture of photography and other languages such as literature, poetry, architecture, contemporary art, design and music.
    The comparison between different ways of thinking and doing photography is a constant figure of our programs. Differences in gender, generations, technique and vision will oppose and cross through exhibitions, projects and thematic meetings.
    Special attention is given to magazines and books related to the world of images, which members can browse in the reading and work wi-fi area.
    The space is managed by a non-profit association, open to members or friends of photography, who must sign an annual pass. Members in particular are entitled to: free access to the library space; meetings with authors, printers, publishers and operators of the universe that revolves around images; purchases at popular prices of limited editions of the exhibits; discounts for courses, workshops, magazines and books; participation at projects, jam sessions and photographic group visits to exhibitions and photographic exhibitions.
    Programming and quality control activities of Quarenghicinquanta are owned by an artistic committee composed of Mario Cresci, Virgilio Fidanza, Dario Guerini, Vincenzo Magni, Francesco Pedrini and Luigi Vegini.

    ROOM 237 is a project room where to host interventions of artists with whom OG Studio has previously collaborated or simply with whom there is a relationship of mutual interest, synergy in the research although formally different.
